GREENSBORO — Through prayer and service, members of St. Paul the Apostle Church work hard to build a culture of life at their parish and in the community. Their efforts continued during the Diocese of Charlotte’s 50th anniversary year, which included a parish-wide baby shower in April that supplied mothers in need with necessary infant-care supplies.

The items benefited Room At The Inn (RATI), a Catholic maternity home in Greensboro that serves pregnant women across North Carolina who are experiencing homelessness, and The Pregnancy Network, another local Christian organization that also supports women experiencing unplanned pregnancies. Both pro-life organizations support individuals before, during and after their pregnancies. Family Room, a local organization that supports families who foster and the children in their care, also received goods from the baby shower.

“The generosity of the people of our parish is amazing, and the drive was a huge success,” says Amy Marmion, outreach coordinator at St. Paul the Apostle Parish. “We were able to collect many baby items including several boxes of diapers, baby wipes, newborn clothing, diaper bags, bouncy seats and several other baby essentials to benefit women in need after the birth of their babies.”

Marianne Donadio, RATI’s vice president and chief development officer, recently expressed how grateful she is for the parish’s assistance.

“The mothers were so happy to have the items for their babies,” Donadio said. “Whether it’s baby showers, hosting tables at our annual banquet fundraiser or donations from Knights of Columbus Council 13236, St. Paul the Apostle is a steadfast supporter of Room At The Inn and the respect life cause overall. We’re so grateful and humbled by their unwavering support.”
