50 Years of History – and much more

From our earliest days of circuit-riding priests to our roots in the Carolina Gold Rush, the Diocese of Charlotte stands on the shoulders of countless missionary priests, consecrated religious, and faithful lay men and women who built up the Church in western North Carolina. Thanks to their sacrifices, hard work and devotion, our diocese was born and has been blessed by God over these past 50 years.

50 Acts of Charity

Progress to 50

Track our progress to 50 Acts of Charity and service in communities across western N.C.

To commemorate the founding of the diocese, our parishes, ministries and schools are embracing the opportunity to participate in greater outreach, service and solidarity with our brothers and sisters in need. Throughout 2022, we’ll feature here creative initiatives and meaningful ways the faithful are engaging in communities – and how some acts of charity are only just beginning.

Show your diocesan spirit with this 33 x 33 inch “rally flag,” modeled after those of Italian city wards – a festive sign of identity and celebration, each uniquely representing by a neighborhood or community. Designed to be draped around the neck at special events or hung in display, the flag is a thick, durable and stretchy fabric perfect for versatile uses.
