OLM students double canned food drive goal

WINSTON-SALEM — For their Lenten service project, the fourth- and fifth-grade students at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic School organized a canned food drive to help feed the hungry. Their goal was to collect 550 cans of food, with the final 50 cans being in honor of the 50th anniversary celebration of the Diocese of Charlotte.

Thanks to the generosity of the OLM school community and the contributions of the OLM Faith Formation students, the children not only reached their goal but actually collected 1,198 cans of food — more than double their original goal!

The donations were delivered to Catholic Charities in Winston-Salem for distribution to its clients.
