Thomasville parish expands its support to a third agency

THOMASVILLE — How’s this for dedication – rain or shine!

Since 2015 Pat (seen here trying to stay dry) and Joan White (often with the help of the local Knights of Columbus) have collected food and cash donations for two local ministries: Cooperative Community Ministry and Fairgrove Family Resource Center.

On this 50th anniversary of the Diocese of Charlotte, they are happy to announce that the program will be expanded to include donating to Pastor’s Pantry, a nonprofit food pantry that targets senior hunger.

Pastors’ Pantry serves seniors (aged 60 and older) in financial stress in Davidson County, and it provides groceries for seniors in need once per month. Pastor’s Pantry currently helps more than 700 people on average per month in nearly 500 senior households throughout Davidson County. The food is offered at no cost to the recipient.

This is what humility, charity and loving your neighbor looks like. Thanks to Pat, Joan and the many generous people in our parish who have donated over $22,000 and 27,000 pounds of food since 2015. The expansion of the program to include Pastor’s Pantry will greatly help the seniors in our community.
