GREENSBORO — Youth at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church took on several charitable acts in February to participate in the “50 Acts of Charity” campaign celebrating the diocese’s 50th anniversary.
On Super Bowl Sunday, St. Paul’s teens held their annual “Souper Bowl” collection, supporting their sister parish, Niño Jesus’ soup kitchens, in Manta, Ecuador.

In preparation for the “Souper Bowl” weekend, St. Paul teens and their parents baked and decorated over 800 cookies! Everyone who attended Mass during the “Souper Bowl” received a cookie as they left, with the opportunity to buy bags of cookies to support Niño Jesus.

Thanks to the generosity of parishioners that weekend, the teens netted $3,800 for Niño Jesus, the largest ever collected! The funds will help buy food for the 250 meals distributed daily to the parishioners of Niño Jesus and will also help provide water purification, refrigeration and minor repairs.

A few days after the “Souper Bowl” collection, the preschoolers at St. Paul’s, known as the Kingdom Kids, held a “Day of Service.” Each child helped pack toiletry bags to give to St. Paul’s food pantry recipients. They also made “thinking of you” cards to send to their homebound parishioners and delivered “appreciate you” treat bags to the parish staff.
